Commercial Lead

Commercial Development Manager – Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
£60,000 - £75,000 DOE plus commission and benefits

Bluetree Recruits is proud to be partnering with a fast-growing medical technology business at an exciting point in its journey.

Our client is an innovative cardiac technology company with a clinically led product that is gaining real traction across the UK healthcare market. Backed by a passionate founding team and a strong clinical foundation, they are now ready to bring on a driven, commercially minded professional to lead their early sales effort and accelerate growth.  This is a permanent field-based role and will require you to spend time in their Cambridge office on an ad hoc basis.

This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor — working directly alongside the founders and clinical team to shape how the business sells, prices, and positions its product.

The Role

As Commercial Development Manager, you will be the driving force behind early sales and business development. You will open conversations with healthcare providers, secure pilot programmes, convert early customers, and help build the commercial infrastructure that will underpin the business's growth.

This role blends hands-on sales with go-to-market strategy and customer discovery. It suits someone who thrives on building from scratch and is energised, rather than daunted, by the early-stage environment.

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and engage target customers across NHS trusts, private healthcare providers, clinics and insurers
  • Build relationships with clinical leads, procurement teams and senior decision-makers
  • Lead sales conversations from first contact through to pilot and contract
  • Design and run pilot programmes that demonstrate clinical and commercial value
  • Convert pilots into paid commercial agreements

Partnerships & Market Presence

  • Explore and establish partnerships with healthcare organisations, digital health platforms and insurers
  • Represent the business at relevant industry events and conferences

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a proven, hands-on sales professional from a medical device or digital health background — someone with direct cardiology sector experience and an existing network they can hit the ground running with.

You will bring:

  • A science degree and a background in cardiology
  • Direct experience selling cardiac devices (not services) into the UK healthcare market
  • A strong track record of selling into private healthcare — BUPA, private clinics, insurers and procurement teams
  • Experience following up and converting tenders and RFPs
  • The confidence to engage clinicians, medical professionals and senior stakeholders
  • A self-starter mindset and comfort operating in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
  • An established address book within the target customer base

Desirable:

  • Experience with diagnostics or remote patient monitoring
  • Knowledge of NHS procurement frameworks
  • Previous start-up or early-stage company experience

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives
  • Company pension
  • On-site parking
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on cardiac patient care across the UK
