WordPress Developer / Site Support – Woking, Surrey or WFH

Salary £25,000 - £30,000 DOE, plus benefits

This role can be fully remote for the right candidate.

  • Do you have 2 + Years’ experience with WordPress development and / or Site Support?
  • Do you have excellent knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git and MySQL?
  • Are you an individual with a keen eye for UX and UI Design?

Our client is an exciting and growing online marketing company. They work with large, well-known brands and global companies, providing technical digital marketing to HR departments. They help their clients promote their careers and company in the highly competitive candidate and recruitment market.

They provide services including online research, SEO, PPC & media planning, analytics, web development, video production, social media and training.

Job Description

Our client is an expanding agency and they need a WordPress Developer to join their growing team and be at the forefront of new and existing projects.

They are looking to grow their web team and they would like you to help build the team and maintain a range of WordPress sites for their clients.

The successful applicant will carry out the following main responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a range of WordPress sites for their clients
  • Implement security patches and other updates to their WordPress sites, investigate and fix any issues generated by these updates
  • Provide support for site launches and the hosting service
  • Carry out technical, UX and accessibility tests
  • Build standard WordPress sites
  • Learn how to maintain and use APIs to pull through jobs from various ATSs (Applicant Tracking Systems)
  • Support and resolution for technical issues when raised via client ticket system
  • Hosting expertise and be able to clearly explain hosting packages

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:


  • 2 + Years’ experience with WordPress development and / or Site Support
  • Development of custom themes and plugins
  • Ability to write high quality code from scratch as well as using existing plugins
  • Excellent knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Git and MySQL
  • A keen eye for UX and UI Design
  • A good understanding of design and SEO principles
  • Strong communicator who can work as part of a team
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience of using Git
  • Experience of developing plugins
  • Experience of creating XML feeds for WordPress sites
  • Experience of using APIs to pull through items from external databases onto a WordPress site
  • Experience of using Screaming Frog
  • Experience of various platforms such as Jira, Slack, and other help desk ticketing systems


  • Bootstrap, JQuery
  • Experienced in a fast-paced agency environment
  • RESTful API development and consumption - JSON/XML/SOAP
  • Hybrid app development
  • Integration into 3rd party systems

The Successful Candidate

Our client is looking to grow their web team and they would like you to help build the team and maintain a range of WordPress sites for their clients.  They have around 20 client websites that they currently work on, which is due to increase over time.  The successful candidate will work on around 4/5 websites at any one time.
